Build Your 1st Semantic Network

If you want to learn the basics of Topical Authority, you should know how to create a Semantic Network.

Let's see a 4-Step Guide to creating one with new and old content

Definition: a layer of machine-interpretable metadata so that computer programs can predictably derive new information (IEEE Computer society)

Example of a Health and Wellness Website

You run a website focused on health and wellness.

Your content ranges from nutrition and diets to exercise routines and mental health advice.

How can you implement a Semantic Network here?

1. Identify Key Topics, Sub Topics and Their Relationships
List out the major topics your website covers.

Examples:

  • Nutrition
  • Exercise
  • Mental Wellness
  • Healthy Recipes
  • Weight Loss

Could you determine the relationships between these topics and the future sub-topics?

For example, nutrition is closely related to weight loss and healthy recipes.

So they should be linked and/or clustered (both different).

Same for the content you publish. I'll explain.

2. Build relationships between Entities

Don't forget to build the relationships between the "Core Entities", like Nutrition, in this case, and Weight Loss.

Also, when writing an article about a specific diet, say the "Mediterranean Diet," include two-way links within the content to related articles like "Heart-Healthy Recipes" or "Benefits of Olive Oil in Your Diet." Connect that to your Core Entities.

3. Use Anchor Text Strategically

Use descriptive anchor texts that naturally incorporate keywords and indicate the linked article's topic.

For example, instead of "click here," use "learn more about yoga for stress relief."

4. Update Existing Content

Review older articles to find opportunities to link to newer content.

For instance, an older post on "Home Workouts" could be updated to link to a newer article on "Setting Up a Home Gym." Connect to your Core Entity, in this case, "Exercise",

The aim of a Semantic Network is to create a web of content where each article reinforces and builds upon others, enhancing Google's understanding of the site to gain further overall authority.

This interconnected content signals the depth and breadth of your site’s knowledge on the topic.

SEO is overwhelming. There are too many options: Keyword research Tech stack Technical setup Copywriting, etc. Simplify things. Use the Epicenter as your guide. The Epicenter is your product or service. Imagine you own a pizza joint. You have a line of customers—are you sending them to your "pizza cooking classes"? No, you won't. You're selling pizza. Margarita or Pepperoni—take it or leave it. This is where you start, not on classes about healthy ingredients for pizza. The digital world is...

As many of you know, I'm aiming to get 120MM clicks for my clients, or 100% YoY growth this year. So I've been looking at ways to fix all the Organic Search attribution drama. And what I found is simple for most SaaS: if a startup is not paying close attention, the attribution will made to the payment gateway (stripe or paypal), so you need to configure it properly. If you already did the setup, you should be able to track the conversions. These are the screens I check the most in GA4....

The Rank Enhancement is a simple process to help you rank higher for content published in the past. The whole idea is to do a minimum effort to squeeze the most out of your SEO lemons. It's the best ROI I get for my clients. I explain a little bit what we've done for these clients in the following video: This is not impossible to streamline, but it's best done on a case by case basis. It uses different data points from Google Search Console, Analytics of any kind, rankings, and other...
